Some information for you if you're interested
in selling iPods on eBay UK.

I've had some queries about wholesale Apple iPods
recently and thought I'd talk a little about this
topic because I sense there may be a lot of

In the UK, there are only a handful of authorized
distributors for this product. A simple search
on Google turns up this list. I've included the
link at the end. I want you to read this first
because it's important.

These authorised wholesalers are strictly trade
only, and will require you to have an established
business, VAT number and so on.

Any other supplier of iPods that isn't on this list,
will be a middleman, logically. That's not a bad
thing necessarily, the bottom line is can you make
a profit.

The answer is, it depends where you intend to sell.
I know many of you are interested in selling on eBay.

Let me say again, in case you missed it earlier, the
margins on iPods, PS3s, Chart DVDs, Games
and so on is extremely thin, and really not worth
getting into.

If you buy DVDs or Games in Tescos, you are
basically paying the trade price!

I recently received a trade pricelist for Apple iPods
and could not see how to make a profit from them
without opening my own shop and selling offline. I
could certainly not profit on eBay with those prices.

There is no way to profit from these on eBay that
I can see UNLESS you are an established business
and can buy very large quantities.

Even then, the margins are still going to be relatively
small, and you would need to sell a lot of product
to make it worth while.

Another option, if you're not deterred from this
route, is to import.

Supplier ID 2873 is a good example.

(Just type ID 2873 into our search box)

They import PS3s, PSPs, Wii Consoles, iPods, Mobile
Phones, Games, etc. from Hong Kong.

I recently received their wholesale prices for
the full range of iPods.

After doing some quick research on eBay,
the most profitable iPod is the new Ipod
Touch, 16gb.

Their wholesale prices are:

224GBP each if you buy 5 units
219GBP each if you buy 10 units
214GBP each if you buy 20 units
211GBP each if you buy 30 units

These may be a good investment. Selling
on eBay for up to 260 but I'd estimate
the average selling price around 240.

(Remember, if researching on eBay, please
don't forget to use Advanced Search and
check Completed Listings only.

Better still, get a subscription to eBays
Marketplace Research tool.

Because you need to know what price
the item ACTUALLY sells for, not the
asking price.)

Back to our importer of iPods.

If you could buy at the higher volume,
you could make quite a decent profit.

This supplier does free shipping AND
free dropshipping. (The only extra to pay
is a one-off 9.99 account fee.)

Think about that for a second.

If they post FREE to your eBay buyer, you
could easily charge 9.99 for postage to add
to your margin.

To find out more about importing, and to find
other importers, a good forum which I always
recommend is ID 2676

(Just type ID 2676 into our search box)
